WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN TRUCK INDUSTRY 2027

2027 is set to be a year of massive transformation for the Prime Mover world! For our Heavy Vehicle and Prime Mover community in Sri Lanka, there is a lot to discuss regarding these upcoming changes.

Here are some of the key details and rumors that have already leaked or surfaced unofficially:

Key Changes and Leaked Info in the 2027 Prime Mover Market

  • The Euro 7 Standard Revolution: Starting in 2027, the Euro 7 Emission Standard will become mandatory in Europe. Because of this, brands like Scania, DAF, MAN, and Renault are completely redesigning their engines. Most notably, these regulations won't just target exhaust fumes; for the first time in history, dust particles from brake and tire wear will also be regulated. Consequently, we can expect to see innovative Retarder and braking technologies in the 2027 truck line-ups.

  • The 2027 Volvo VNL Series: Details and photos of the 2027 Volvo VNL860 and other models in that series have already leaked (some dealers in the US market have already received information). These cabins feature the new D13 engine, an improved I-Shift Transmission, and major aerodynamic changes focused on fuel efficiency. Additionally, details regarding the 2027 Kenworth W990 and T880 models have also started to leak.

  • The Future of Scania V8 and New Concepts: One of the biggest rumors circulating right now is that Scania is secretly testing its 16-liter V8 engine line to meet Euro 7 standards. Many are eagerly waiting to see how horsepower and torque figures will change under the new emission laws. Meanwhile, an extreme motorhome/overland truck concept called the "2027 Scania 6x6 Desert Titan" has been going viral online.

  • DAF and New Axle Weight Regulations: To comply with new international axle weight regulations, DAF and MAN are expected to unveil new chassis designs in 2027 that reduce the truck's tare weight while increasing cabin space. Specifically, the aerodynamic cabin designs of the DAF XF, XG, and XG+ models are likely to be further evolved.

Looking at these developments, 2027 marks a brand-new era for both engine power and vehicle technology!
